Peace is a promise you keep. There is a peace way beyond what any of us can imagine! isn't that crazy? Philippians 4:7 refers to "the peace of God which transcends all understanding." Most of Pauls letters began with the words "Grace and peace to you from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ." Peace to me is a state of tranquility and or quietness in the spirit that transcends circumstances. Peace is described in scripture as a gift from God.
If God is peace, then to know God is to bask in his peace. The more we draw near to him, the more peace we can enjoy. Having peace means knowing God better, trusting in him with your whole heart. Certain attitudes can destroy the peace of God. When we equate trust with the assumption that God will give us whatever we want, we set ourselves up for disappointment. Living in peace brings us great, great joy. Think about a life with no peace. How would you live in constant far and stress? The bible is filled with verses that can bring peace in the middle of struggles, worries, and fear. If we ask God, he promises us his peace that passes all understanding. The best thing that you can do when you are filled with anxiety and worry is to find a quiet place to rest in God's peace and to know that no matter anything that is going wrong you can know that HE is for you. God wants us to have a life lived to the fullest and that includes living in peace without worry of the future. He has us in his hands. Why should we worry when the God of the whole universe is in control of our lives? His perfect love and peace will meet us where we are. No matter our circumstances.
Peace is something we cant fully understand or wrap our heads around. Especially peace from God. We don't deserve it and we surely didn't earn it and that's why we are so hesitant to fully trust in the peace that God can bring us. We aren't aware of what fully being at peace feels like because we are so consumed with our stressful lives and our anxious selves that we fail to see the peace that God is offering. Trust in God. Learn how to rest in his peace.
